20 UKRAINIAN COMPANIES JOINED THE EUROPEAN CYBER SECURITY ORGANIZATION (ECSO)

This year, the European Cyber Security Organization (ECSO) started providing free membership to Ukrainian companies. Together with its members and partners, the organization works to strengthen cyber security and technological independence in Europe.

On June 16, 2023 in Brussels, ECSO announced the joining of 20 new member companies. Among them: GigaCloud, ikido, Angoka, Anima, Associazione Cyber 4.0, Aware7 GmbH, Binalyze, Bit4id, Cogninn, Cyber Diia Platform, Erium SAS, GIS, Informa, ISACA, ISSP, KnowBe4, Maltego, MarCySCoE, QRCrypto.eu and SCSA -U.A.

“Now we see active European integration of Ukraine in all spheres. After all, ECSO residency gives Ukrainian companies the opportunity to work on the development of a competitive European cyber security ecosystem. I am sure that the expertise and experience of our cyber specialists will bring many benefits to Europe. ― says Kyrylo Naumenko, GigaCloud CTO . ― Currently, unfortunately, there are almost no infrastructure partners among the members of the organization. And without a reliable IT infrastructure, even the most technological project is at risk.”

The expert also shared some opinions regarding the membership of Ukrainian companies in ECSO.

THE EUROPEAN MARKET AND OTHER ADVANTAGES FOR UKRAINE

First, Ukrainian member companies of the organization will have access to the European market. Secondly, our specialists will be able to study, attend cyber security trainings, and consult with leading experts. Thirdly, we will become closer to European safety standards.

ECSO also develops the women’s movement Women4Cyber . And this is a direct step towards European personnel values, where women are given more opportunities for realization. This means that Ukrainian specialists will be able to receive support and networking from European colleagues.

FLEXIBLE APPROACH AND PERSONNEL FOR EUROPE

Attracting highly qualified professionals to the community is one of the key needs of ECSO. Ukrainian IT specialists are highly valued in the world, and it is wrong to think that only because of cheap labor.

Since January 2022, Ukraine remains in first place in the world in terms of the number of cyber attacks. Every day, Russia carries out an average of 10 attacks. Over 4,500 cyber attacks on various Ukrainian state and private structures were recorded throughout 2022. Most of them were repelled. No European specialist has such experience. This is the uniqueness of Ukrainian cyber specialists.

Europe clearly acts in accordance with its legislation, Ukraine will be able to teach it flexibility.

WILL INTEGRATION INTO THE EU IT COMMUNITY PROVOKE AN OUTFLOW OF SPECIALISTS FROM UKRAINE

Ukrainian business supports liberal values and free competition. Entering the international arena, one must understand that it opens up to a new market and, obviously, becomes vulnerable. Openness is always a risk. But it is competition that develops Ukrainian IT and forces it to compete, in particular on salaries. And this means that, instead, the prospect of an influx of European specialists to Ukraine opens up.
